چکیده

Abstract Cropping of rice and wheat ( Triticum aestivum L .) in rotation contiguously the same field is a fundamental pillar double-cropping systems southern China. Yields such cropping are increasingly challenged as climate change (CC) drives increases autumnal rainfall, delaying harvesting subsequent sowing wheat. Here, our purpose was to identify prospective traits crops enabling adaptation later successively truncated growing seasons caused by CC. To that maintained or improved yields, we constructed 4,096 hypothetical genotypes underpinned step-wise variations parameters regulating phenology, growth yield components. We then assimilated biophysical response surfaces through genotype (G) environment (E) management (M) analyses (G×E×M) using six locations spread across breadth showed reduced cumulative radiation interception, thermal time crop capture season rainfall. The culmination these factors shortened duration decreased biomass accumulation retranslocation after anthesis, reducing grain number penalising yields. Genotypes had greater use efficiency, longer juvenile phases filling rates were more effective alleviating losses with delayed sowing. However, not even highest yielding × combination could entirely alleviate Our results suggest CC frequent extreme climatic events may reduce yields absence other adaptation.

Understanding Dry Matter and Nitrogen Accumulation with Time-Course for High-Yielding Wheat Production in China

Understanding the time-course of dry matter (DM) and nitrogen (N) accumulation in terms of yield-trait relationships is essential to simultaneously increase grain yield and synchronize N demand and N supply. We collected 413 data points from 11 field experiments to address patterns of DM and N accumulation with time in relation to grain yield and management of winter wheat in China. Detailed gr...

Grain yield and phosphorus use efficiency of wheat and pea in a high yielding environment

The aim of the present study was to evaluate the response of grain yield, phosphorus (P) use efficiency (PUE, g yield g–1 P available) and related root traits of wheat and pea to different P availabilities in a high yielding environment (e.g.: yield higher than 10 Mg ha-1 for wheat). Two experiments were conducted in southern Chile. Treatments consisted of the combination of (i) two crops (spri...
